Redwood Run 2009–The Quilt

Frequent Photo

If you come to the Redwood Run (and you should because it’s full of cheap sparkles), then stop by the Salmon Creek Quilt Booth.  Buy a ticket and introduce yourself.

The supportive people (Doug, Carl, Roberto etc.) at the Run have provided free booth space for over 10 years to the school.  We raise between $3500 and $10,000 for every quilt which this year (and last) was created for us by Nancy Booth, the school’s grandma and a wonderful neighbor.  The quilt is centered around the official t-shirts of different years of the Run.  Gypsy Moon, who creates the t-shirts, has been very helpful over the years collecting vintage shirts for us to use.

Without such a great community, our little school with only 9 kids would never survive.

I’ve been studying on that background. Is it black fabric with a design, or all those little colorful parts different fabrics?

Very nice…hope it brings in a big amount for the school.

Great quilt!

There were some Harley riders in our neighborhood yesterday. I am sure we will see more of them cruising this weekend. VRO-OOM!

Somehow, your photo does this quilt justice, Kym. Thank you for the documentation, promotion and hard work of organizing the school’s place at the event. You must have had “booth” on the brain all weekend, but when you have time again, please give the much-deserved credit to Nancy “Branch”. She does do so much for the school kids, we love her a bunch! What a great community this is… People like you and Nancy mean a lot to the handful of families trying to do it all. Hope your hearing is still intact!

Yikes, how did I forget to mention Nancy? Her beautiful creations have helped fund the school for years. Bless you, Nancy. And thanks for teaching me most of what I know about quilting!
