A Pair of Baby Blue Eyes Makes the World Right

baby-blue-eyesWhenever I See Those Baby Blues

Daily Photo

Did you “not receive proper emotional support growing up?”  Do you lack “a healthy connection with [your] father?” Did this lack of connection create “a protective shell of defensiveness, or intellectual cynicism?”

Restore your trust in the world with this sweet little California native pictured above.

According to a guide on flowers, a mere drop of distilled essence of Baby Blue Eyes will allow you to become “more accepting, positive and open.” Just a shimmer of the shining liquid is supposed to help “restore the soul’s original innocence and childlike trust. The soul is helped by learning to recognize goodness in others and in the world… .”

In my opinion, the mere sight of  the flower itself on a sunny day will dissolve all “intellectual cynicism.”

Here in my Humboldt hills, the flower is so pale as to almost seem to be misnamed but elsewhere it is a rich sky blue (though it can be any shade in-between.. It grows on the thin soil of meadows especially on the edges of woods.  Keep your baby blue eyes (or brown or green) open for the sight of these sweet little innocence restorers this spring.  The ones here are blooming even in the rain.

Part of my lifestyle is making sure to stop and smell the flowers.

Life is too short not to admire nature’s handiwork. The beauty around us is too often unseen in this hectic world. If only people could realize that this beauty can soothe their souls and make life bearable.

Thanks for this snapshot of a flower that I haven’t seen in my neck of the woods!

My comment was going to sound something like Dave’s above, so I’ll just say: “ditto.”

My blue-eyed son makes my world right, that was my first thought when I saw your post’s title.

Have another beautiful day, lovely Kym!

I think you are right. Just look around and see that the world runs just fine without you. Once you realize this, you automatically become more accepting. Excellent photo and essay.

Those beautiful delicate flowers are just thing to brighten up the dreary March days.

I could use some of that essence. I’ve gotten a bit cynical from my last coupe of jobs. Gorgeous little flower, Kym.

Thanks guys.

Headwrapper, I’d never seen that piece by Andy Warhol before. I’ve never been a fan but that painting pleased me. (I know you’re an artist but, how do you know so many beautiful pieces with just the right one to bring out?)

Hooray for the trillums. I just hiked Hacker Cr. And the first one was drooping under the rain.

Nice picture.

I grab seeds from these things when the pods dry up in the woods. Planting a summer crop of baby blue eyes consists of tossing a bunch of seed on the ground. They will totally die after June though. I tried planting them in winter once… didn’t work so well.

I’ve purchased the deeper blue ones but I’ve never gathered the seeds myself…I foresee a fun project for the little guy and I. Thank you.

Ah, I wish I had a field of wildflowers handy. I’m afraid all of mine are cultivated by other people.

It’s as if someone took the most delicate fountain pen and carefully drew those beautiful blue lines.

Silverstar, I am so lucky.

Forkboy, I love the lines, too. You caught the essence exactly.

Dave’s comment really says it all Kym. We don’t have these beautiful flowers in Illinois. I really like the delicate details. Lovely shot Kym!

I am truly enjoying your photography. “Dark Angel” is especially lovely, but I like them all.
