Two Hawks and a Snake
Juvenile Redtail Hawks with Snake
Daily Photo
Sigh, Now I really, really want a zoomier lens. By the time I expanded this photo the hawks were all pixely and the snake looked more like a leather jess than a writhing living being.

That’s not all bad when the subject has a snake in it. 🙂 Hmm, I’m just now remembering that I still have my old camera and a couple of zoom lenses. Probably aren’t as good as the ones you have, but I’ll email you and see if you want them or if they will fit your camera.
Amazing shot.
I wonder if that’s the same snake we saw during the week.
Great capture but it made me cringe. I hate snakes and find nothing about them charming or redeemable. Sure, they eat bugs and rodents but that still does not cut back on their ick factor.
Ahhh. Snakes are wonderful creatures. I used to find a snake skeleton about once a month or so at our home in central Florida. There were a few hawks living nearby and for whatever reason they seemed to enjoy dining on our roof!
OK, I’m going to get all teachery on you and tell you that young birds are juvenals not juveniles. Or anyway, that’s what my bird book says.
A few days after Sharon Laurence came home from her hospital stay following a rattlesnake bite, a redtail flew over with a snake in its talons. She was not amused. That was 1983, 25 years ago! Time flies.
