Oh yeah, it was exciting. I came out of the Depot, between classes, and wondered what the firetrucks were doing there. I’m a little slow.
So I through on my “Monica from KHUM” personality and ducked under the yellow tape to talk to the Arcata Police Chief live on the air. It was fun in a “too bad” sort of way.

Not really. I wish I had some inside scoop, but all the police chief would tell me is that smoke was detected in the custodian’s closet, adjacent to the men’s restroom. Someone pulled the fire alarm and evacuated the music building and Arcata Volunteer Fire Department showed up, stat. Everyone was out of the building when I spoke to UPD’s Chief Dewey, and the fire was nearly out. They hoped to have an updated Press Release out by 4:30pm. Darn the officials and their virtual “No Comments.”

Monica, I rushed over to your blog hoping to get the inside scoop but you didn’t have anything. There was nothing new to add?

BTW- On my 1st comment, I meant “threw,” not “through.” Yes, this Journalism major knows the English language. 🙂
