Junk Yard

Maple in winter

We shed pieces of our lives—leave them lying around.  Every hill home has some detritus.  Items we plan to use again but don’t–ugly objects, out of place and out of use.

After decades, though, wood and metal tend to add a beauty of their own. In the photo an old screen window litters the land and I used to vow that I was going to get  rid of it… Tomorrow.  But it has become beautiful.

Either that or I’m justifying my laziness.

If all you have lying around is one old screen window, no need to kick yourself. I’ll trade you for the dead generator Mike took out of his motor home the day we got married which is still sitting in the backyard, too heavy to move.

You live in such a gorgeous area. Love the hills and lonesome tree.

I tend to not “see” my junk anymore. Junk inside my own house.

Ask the tree. The tree will kick your ass over that screen if you ask.

Move the screen.

Well, possibly there might be one or two items more than the screen! Like Kitty, I tend not to see it. The tree and the screen have “grown” together over the years. They would be lost without each other.

The question I ask myself is “If I take this to the dump, am I just sloughing my problem off somewhere else.” I know that just because I can’t see it, doesn’t mean it is gone. Of course, I do take the household trash to the dump so I’m not being consistent here. I am such a waffler.
