Solstice Sun

Quinn, swim, ice, December
My Solstice Son
pauses before plunging
Sacrificing warmth
In order to reveal himself
to himself.

Born on the Solstice, my middle son, like a sacrifice to the Winter Gods, plunges into the pond every December. In the back ground you can see ice on the edge of the pond.

He was so quick that I couldn’t get a picture of him actually swimming.
I’d call him a wimp but..

Brrrrrr! I had no idea he did that every year. Makes me glad I was born in October! 🙂

Perhaps we would each be in a better place if we could step out of our comfort zone to challenge ourselves – we might actually be surprised at who we are or could become.

Whether he intends it to be or not, it’s got to be a character-building experience for him. He’s a good kid!
