Foliage more than Flowers

Maple on Patio

As I muddle through the middle of my life, I discover I love foliage more than flowers and Fall more than Spring. I aspire to emulate maples which explode in joy and color even as they reach the end of their cycle.

When chlorophyll recedes from autumn leaves, the vibrant tones that have been hidden reveal themselves in passionate purples and rich reds. I wonder what I will find beneath the camouflage of convention which covers me?

That’s one of my maples on my patio. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Your maple is beautiful, Kym. We don’t get a lot of “colorful foliage” in Humboldt. Makes us appreciate more what we DO get to see up there.

The maples have been beautiful this year. It hasn’t been a good year for the poison oak….

Probably saved a few tourists from the itchies since it wasn’t as pretty as usual.
